NHLFL Draft Lottery Announcement

Post by Steve-CanucksGM »

Hey guys, hope everything is going well wherever you are with all of this going on. At the very least, the weather is getting nicer, so going outside for a walk or doing yardwork isn't so bad.

With the Draft Lottery announcement today, we at least have something to look forward to in the coming month for our fantasy purposes as well.

Since the teams from Phase 1 of the lottery are the only ones directly connected to our league/non-playoff teams, nothing will have to change from previous years.

The bottom 6 non playoff teams from our league will match up with the bottom 6 NHL teams, where no team can move up or down more than 2 spots (ex. 6th place can move to 4th place - so if 6th place wins the lottery, they move to 4th, the 4th and 5th become 5th and 6th and the top 3 stay the same. If 3rd wins the lottery, they move to 1st, 1st moves to 2nd and 2and moves to 3rd, and so on depending on how it finishes - any team outside of the bottom 6 wins, nothing changes).

So with that being said, the draft lottery will look as follows:

NHLFL team (finish) (current owner) - NHL team (place from last) - odds

6. Pittsburgh (9) - New Jersey (6) - 7.5%

5. Vladivostok (10) (owned by TML) - Anaheim (5) - 8.5%

4. Ottawa (11) - Los Angeles (4) - 9.5%

3. Windsor (owned by VAN) (12) - Ottawa (SJ) (3) - 11.5%

2. Las Vegas (owned by CBJ) (13) - Ottawa (2) - 13.5%

1. Anaheim (14) (owned by VAN) - Detroit (1) - 18.5%

And the lottery results are in. Keep in mind that an undetermined winner holds no bearing on our league results (on a personal stance, go Montreal! hah).

Our original standings:

6. Pittsburgh (9) - New Jersey (6) - 7.5%
5. Vladivostok (10) (owned by TML) - Anaheim (5) - 8.5%
4. Ottawa (11) - Los Angeles (4) - 9.5%
3. Windsor (owned by VAN) (12) - Ottawa (SJ) (3) - 11.5%
2. Las Vegas (owned by CBJ) (13) - Ottawa (2) - 13.5%
1. Anaheim (14) (owned by VAN) - Detroit (1) - 18.5%

After the balls fell broken down with explanations and keep in mind that no team can move more than 2 spots)

New Jersey and Anaheim ended up at 6th and 5th overall which changes nonthing: So Pittsburgh and Toronto (via VLD original) pick at 6 and 5

1.
2.
3.
4.
5. Toronto (via VLD)
6. Pittsburgh

Ottawa (via SJ) stayed at 3rd and ended up entrenched in that spot: So Vancouver (via WSR) will pick at 3

1.
2.
3. Vancouver (via WSR)
4.
5. Toronto (via VLD)
6. Pittsburgh

LA Kings moved up to 2 (and technically 1 since there is no undetermined team, but since they can't move more than 2 spots, Ottawa moved from 4 to 2. Ottawa (NHL version) dropped to 5, but again, since they can't move down more than 2 spots, Columbus (via VLD) will pick at 4. Since the Kings pick (OTT) can't move to 1, the Windsor pick is entrenched at 3 and Columbus dropped to 5 (but 4 since they can't move down more than 2), the Detroit pick, Vancouver (via ANH) stays at #1

So after all the results, shifts and undetermined teams (we hope Montreal of course ;) hah), the lottery top 6 picks will be as followed (Basically Ottawa and Columbus swapping positions):

1. Vancouver (via ANH)
2. Ottawa
3. Vancouver (via WSR)
4. Columbus (via VGK)
5. Toronto (via VLD)
6. Pittsburgh

with the rest of the 1st round as follows:

7. Columbus (via MTL)
8. Ottawa (via SGB)
9. Mississauga
10. Dallas
11. Las Vegas (via TOR/via CBJ)
12. Toronto
13. Winnipeg
14. Columbus (via VAN)

With the draft lottery finished and locked in (team undetermined doesn't exist in the league hah) and these being the results we will use going into the 2020 NHLFL draft (regardless of phase 2, any NHL changes, etc), I will be updating all the trades/picks etc and post a draft board as soon as i get the chance. That way everything can be seen and everyone can double check all picks.

I know the actual draft may not happen for quite some time, but that way there's plenty of time to ensure everything is in order and organized so when it does happen everything should run very smoothly.

Thanks!
